Dr. Ziho Kang has received the
Andrew P. Sage Best Transaction Paper Award. Established in 1998, the award recognizes the author of
the best paper in the IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and
Cybernetics (SMC) Society. Formal
announcement will be made in the second issue of the SMC Magazine in 2017. The paper was
judged based on originality, technical merit, and impact to the society. The
topic is on introducing the concept of Visual Groupings to characterize complex
visual scanning patterns, and utilizing the concept to evaluate human
